How to Monitor your Phone Number

Overview

VirtualShield uses a sophisticated Very Early Warning System to monitor private and public databases for signs of early identity theft and ID Theft Risk. After adding you and your family's information, you can safely shop online and use social media, knowing your identity is fully secure against breaches.

In the event that your information appears compromised, we will put a flag in your Dashboard along with instructions on how to protect yourself. Our Identity Restoration Team is also here to assist you. If identity theft does happen, we handle the entire recovery process for you.

Adding your Phone Number

The vulnerability of phone numbers may appear to be low risk at first, but there's actually a much more serious side to compromising your phone number. In various situations, multiple forms of identification or verification are required.

In some cases, simply verifying your phone number can be enough for a sweet-talking thief to impersonate and convince someone else that they are you. As a result, even the most innocent of data can be used to do great harm when it's associated with your identity.

You can to add up to 10 phone numbers at the same time, if you would like to monitor your family's details in addition to your own.

Start by visiting your Account Dashboard, then select  ID Monitoring from the navigation menu.

If you do not have a Plus/One/Ultimate plan, contact us and we'll be happy to upgrade your subscription.

Press the Setup button to activate your protection, if you have not done so already.

Select the Monitored Information tab near the top of the page.

You can also press the Review or Update Monitored Information button on the Dashboard.

Below Phone numbers, choose  Add phone number. Enter your Phone number in the field provided, then press Add.

That's it! You will be notified on your Dashboard and via email or SMS/text alerts if we detect any breaches.

Removing your Phone Number

If you've reached the maximum limit for your account, you can follow the exact same steps to remove a Phone number you added previously. Just be aware it will no longer be monitored by our system.

Select the Monitored Information tab near the top of the page.

You can also press the Review or Update Monitored Information button on the Dashboard.

Below Phone numbers, choose Remove next to the Phone number you would like to remove.

This action can not be undone. We must have at least one SSN number and Postal address on file in order to protect you. Everything else is entirely optional.

Do I need to download an app?
No, you don't need to install any software to utilize this service. You can access your Dashboard from any device with an internet connection. Once you enter your information, no further action is required.

Will I receive an alert if I've been breached?
Yes, you can find your alerts by visiting your Dashboard. Alerts will also be sent to your email address or phone, depending on your personal preference. See our support article for more info on how to set up SMS text alerts on your phone.
