Overview
You can customize the app to open automatically each time you power on or restart your device. This helps ensure that your data remains private, and you don’t have to launch the app in order to connect.
This option is enabled by default on desktop and laptop computers. On mobile devices, you may need to toggle it on yourself. Alternatively, you can disable it if you prefer to open the app manually instead.
Windows
When you close or hide surf the web and use your
Windows computer just as you would normally.
You can also customize the app to open automatically each time you power on or restart your device. If you are logged in, you will be taken directly to the Home/Overview screen.
If used in combination with the
option, you will remain connected to our network at all times.Open on Startup
How to open the VPN automatically on your Windows computer:
Open VirtualShield VPN and log in to your account, if you are not logged in already.
For more help logging in and connecting, see our

Alternatively, you canright-click the
shield icon next to your clock, then select
App Settings from the menu.
Toggle the Autostart option on or off, then click the back arrow to return to the App Settings screen.
macOS

How to open the VPN automatically on your Mac computer:
Open VirtualShield VPN and log in to your account, if you are not logged in already.
For more help logging in and connecting, see our

Select the App Settings tab to customize your
App Settings.
Toggle the Open at Login option on or off, then click the close button to return to the Home/Overview screen.
Alternatively, check the Reopen windows option beforeshutting down your Mac. The app will open on it’s own as soon as you power it on again.
iOS
iOS works a little differently. It is not possible to add Startup apps on iPhone or iPad devices at this time. This was a design choice made by Apple. However, there is a workaround.
If you want the app to open automatically each time you power on or restart your device, simply leave it running when you turn it off. The app will open on it’s own when you power it on again.

How to open the VPN automatically on your iPhone/iPad:

.When you power off your device, be sure to leave the app running in the background.
The app will open on it’s own as soon as you power it on again.
To help preserve battery life and keep your devicerunning optimally, we recommend closing any background apps that are not in use.
Android

How to open the VPN automatically on your Android phone/tablet:
Open the Settings app on your Android phone/tablet.

If you can’t find this icon, ask Google to open your Settings.
Select Apps & notifications from the list of available options.
It may be labeledApplications or
Installed Apps, depending on the make and model of your device.
Find the VirtualShield VPN app, then choose Permissions.
Toggle the Auto-start option on or off, then tap the back arrow to save your changes.
If you can’t find this option, it might be labeled Autorun or Open on Startup.
Common Questions
Am I still protected after I exit the app?
No, if youdisconnect the VPN or
quit/exit the app you will be unprotected. We recommend leaving this option enabled to prevent any
loss in protection.
Why can’t I find this option on my device?
It is likely you have anof our app installed. We recommend downloading the latest version from to take advantage of thenew VPN technology, and all of the new security services we offer.
Why don’t I see the shield icon on my computer?
OnWindows computers, click the up arrow next to your clock to Show hidden icons. On
Mac computers, look for the app inside of your Applications list or Launchpad. See our for more information.
