Overview
When you close or hide VirtualShield, it will continue protecting you in the background, allowing you to surf the web and use your computer or tablet just as you would normally.
This allows you to keep your system protected at all times. Otherwise, closing the app will exit the software, instead of hiding it. We recommend leaving this option enabled in order to be fully protected.
On mobile devices, you will see aVPN or a
key icon when the VPN is active. See our support article for more information.
Windows
If you can't find the VirtualShield app on your computer, it might be running in the background. To open it again, look for the 
shield icon in the Notification area next to your clock. This icon will appear with a green circle when the VPN is active.
If you don't see it, click theup arrow next to your clock to Show hidden icons. You can open the app from here, or from the shortcut on your Desktop/Start menu.
Hide to Tray area
How to hide VirtualShield in the Tray area on your Windows computer:
Open VirtualShield and log in to your account, if you are not logged in already.

Click the Settings link located near the bottom-left corner of the app.
Select the App Settings tab to customize your App Settings.
Toggle the Hide to Tray option on or off, then click the 
back arrow to return to the Home screen.
macOS
If you can't find the VirtualShield app on your computer, it might be running in the background. To open it again, look for the shield icon in the Notification area next to your clock. This icon will appear with a green circle when the VPN is active.
You should see another icon in the Dock/Launcher near the bottom of your screen. You can open the app from here, or from the shortcut in your Applications list.
Hide to Dock
How to hide VirtualShield in the Dock on your Mac computer:
Open VirtualShield and log in to your account, if you are not logged in already.

Click the Settings link located near the bottom-left corner of the app.
Select the App Settings tab to customize your App Settings.
Toggle the Show Dock Icon option on or off, then click the 
close button to return to the Home screen.
Common Questions
I can't find the shield icon in my Taskbar, what should I do?
Try right-clicking the Taskbar, then navigate to Taskbar Settings > Notification area > Choose which icons appear on the Taskbar. Find the VirtualShield app, then move the toggle switch to the on position.
Why does the shield icon look different on my computer?
It is possible you still have an older/legacy version of our app installed. We recommend downloading the latest version from our website to take advantage of the new VPN technology, and all of the new security features we offer.
