Overview
Although Fire OS is based on the Android Operating System, it does not have access to the Google Play Store. This means you can either download the app from the Amazon Appstore, or manually from our website.
Depending on the age/generation of your device, you may need to install the application manually. This article will help you determine which version is best for you.

For 2019 and newer Fire devices, you can download our app directly from the Amazon Appstore:
For older devices, or if you have trouble accessing the Amazon Appstore, follow the instructions below to download the APK (Android Package) file to your device.
If you are unsure, this article will help you figure out the age/generation of the device you're using.
Check your Serial Number
First try to figure out which generation of Kindle/Fire tablet you're using. The easiest way to check is to look on the back of your device. You should see a model/serial number:

Check Device Settings
Alternatively, you can find the serial number from your device's Settings:
Swipe to unlock your device, then tap the menu button in the top-right corner of your screen.
Next tap Settings, then tap the menu button again and select Device Info.
Your device's serial number and firmware version will be displayed on this screen.
Manual App Setup
If your device is compatible, follow the instructions below to install our Android app manually, outside of the Amazon Appstore:
Open your web browser and then go to the following URL, or visit the link below to download the installation file to your device:
VirtualShield is compatible with Amazon Fire OS version 6 and above.
Once the file is downloaded, tap Open to start the installation process.
When the installation is complete, tap Open again to sign in and connect to our secure network.

I can't find my serial number, what can I do?

If your device is incompatible, we strongly recommend upgrading your Operating System in order to be fully protected against the latest threats.
