Allow State Selection

Overview

This option allows you to further refine your location selection and choose a specific state/region to connect to, in addition to the country.

Websites and apps will only be able to see the location and IP address of the VPN server you're connected to, they will not be able to recognize your actual location. Changing your location manually can also help you achieve better connection speed(s).

By default, our system uses various factors (distance, ping, etc.) to determine the fastest and most secure data center to protect you. You can also fine-tune your selection and your IP address will reflect those changes when you surf the web.

This feature is entirely optional, and can be enabled or disabled at any time.

Allow State Selection

How to enable or disable state selection on your Windows computer:
1

Open VirtualShield and log in to your account, if you are not logged in already.

For more help logging in and connecting, see our support article.
2

Click More Options (three vertical dots) near the corner of the app, and choose Advanced Settings from the popup menu.

You can also right-click the shield icon next to your clock, then navigate to VPN > Advanced Settings from the popup menu.

3

Toggle the Allow State Selection option on or off, then click the  back arrow to return to the Home screen.

4

Now when you choose your VPN location, you will see a  down arrow next to each of the countries. Click the arrow to expand the list of states/regions.

You can also save locations to your Favorites by pressing the star icon.
