How does Active Protection work?

Overview

As the name suggests, Active Protection (AP) will continuously protect your device at all times. This also includes when it is shutting down or performing system upgrades.

It will continue protecting you even after you turn it off, until the next system restart. Active Protection is enabled by default, disabling it is not recommended.

Enabling Active Protection

If you attempt to download a harmful file or install an unsafe app, AP will kick in and remove/quarantine any threats in real time. This helps prevent viruses, adware, rootkits, and other forms of malware before they can gain access to your data or damage your device.

1

Open VirtualShield Antivirus and unlock the full version, if you have not done so already.

For more help getting started with VS Antivirus, see our support article.
2

Simply toggle the switch on the Status screen to enable Active Protection. This switch will appear green once AP is enabled.

3

On mobile devices, you might be prompted to allow the app to Appear on top of other apps.

You can do so by opening your  Settings app, then navigate to Apps > Special Access > Appear on top.

Disabling Active Protection

Disabling Active Protection is not recommended. However, you can disable it at any time if a specific app, file or archive is getting blocked by our system. Just remember to turn it back on once you're done, to keep your device safe from threats.

1

Open VirtualShield Antivirus and unlock the full version, if you have not done so already.

For more help getting started with VS Antivirus, see our support article.
2

Simply toggle the switch on the Status screen to disable Active Protection. This switch will appear red once AP is disabled.

Just be aware that you will be exposed to threats, if you do not manually scan your device on a regular basis.
