Does VirtualShield protect me from Facebook?

VirtualShield works just like any other VPN (Virtual Private Network). It will only protect you from Facebook if you are not logged into your personal account.

Why does this happen?

For example, if you are browsing the web, Facebook tries to track you. Our service can prevent that if you are logged out of Facebook.

However, it doesn't protect you if you are logged in and using Facebook.com (since you are logged in, they already know who you are).

How do I prevent this?

To stop Facebook from tracking, you can disable Location Services for your Facebook account.

Android Phone/Tablet

1
Open the Settings app on your device, then tap Apps & notifications.

2
Select the Facebook app, then choose Permissions.

3
Tap Location to toggle Location Services on or off:

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

1
Open the Settings app on your device, then tap Privacy.

2
Choose Location Services, then select the Facebook app.

3
Tap Location History to toggle Location Services on or off:

Facebook Website

1
Go to Facebook.com under your Facebook account.

2
Click the arrow on the top-right and go to Settings > Location.

3
Click Edit to the right of Location History.

4
Select the dropdown box to toggle Location Services on or off:

Once you've disabled Location Services, you can safely browse on Facebook while you're connected to the VPN.

Facebook will only be able to see the IP address/location of the server you're connected to. They will not be able to recognize your actual location.
