How can I tell if I'm protected? (All Apps)

As long as shield icon appears green when you open VirtualShield, you are fully protected. If you're not connected, this icon will appear red or gray in color:

This icon may appear slightly different depending on the device you're using.


Windows

On Windows computers, you will see a check mark overlapping the shield icon in your Taskbar:

You will also see a smaller shield icon in the System tray near the corner of your screen, next to the clock:

If you don't see this icon, click the up-arrow next to your clock to Show hidden icons:

Tip: You can drag this icon and move it next to your clock for quick & easy access.

Mac

On Mac computers, you will see a small shield icon next to the clock near the corner of your screen. This icon will appear green when you're connected to the VPN, otherwise it will be gray:


iOS

On Apple iOS devices, you will see a small VPN icon near the top of your screen.
This icon will only appear when the VPN connection is active:

On iPhone X/XS devices, the VPN icon may be hidden by the notch. Swipe down from the right hand side of the status bar to open Control Center. The VPN icon will appear here:


Android

On Android devices, you will see 2 icons near the top of your screen. A shield icon on one side, and a key shaped icon on the other. The key icon indicates that you're connected, and the shield icon is our Live App Notification:


Browser extension(s)

If you installed one of our Chrome/Firefox/Opera browser extensions, the shield icon will appear near the top-right corner of your browser:


Verify your Protection

Once you're connected, you can verify your Protection Status at any time using the link below. This link will work on all of your various devices, computers, tablets, smart phones and more:

If you are connected to our secure network, this page will report your status as Protected.
It will also display the IP address and location of the VPN server you're connected to.

Otherwise, this page will display your actual location. This is the same information your Internet Provider, and other websites and software will be able to see:

Tip: On Windows/Linux computers, you can also see this information by clicking the Status tab on the left-hand side of the app.
